President Donald Trump has secured a $221 million settlement with Columbia University to resolve multiple federal civil rights investigations.
The contract includes $21 million and $21 million on suspicion of discriminatory practices after Hamas attacks in Israel since October 7, 2023, $21 million to resolve allegations of anti-Semitic employment discrimination against Jewish teachers.
The White House called it the largest anti-Semitism-related settlement in US history. Colombia confirmed the dollar amount, but did not characterize the transaction in that way.
The agreement restores billions with federal research funding and imposes surveillance through independent monitors. Columbia has agreed to reforms, including strengthening protest rules on campus and changing disciplinary institutions from teachers to administrators.

Columbia’s official statement does not argue that the White House insists that universities will review international student admissions or Middle East programs or share admission process data.
Foreman Claire Shipman said the settlement protects academic independence and allows for the reopening of important research.
Colombia did not admit fraud, but recognized the need for reform after “painful and unacceptable incidents” affecting Jewish students and faculty.

“This contract marks significant progress after a sustained period of federal scrutiny and institutional uncertainty,” Shipman said. “The settlement was carefully crafted to protect the value that defines the United States and allows for an essential research partnership with the federal government to be on track. Importantly, it protects academic excellence and independence, a critical condition of academic excellence and academic exploration.
The White House also cited regulations relating to women’s sports and campus safety that were not mentioned in the Columbia statement.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for additional comments.
