President Donald Trump made his high school senior dream come true during his speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday evening.
In a speech focused on how hot topics across the country have personally influenced Americans, Trump began talking about Jason Hartley.
Hartley’s father, grandfather and great grandfather all served in the military country. His father, who passed away in August 2018, also worked as a deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff.
His dream was to be accepted by the US military academy in West Point, and as a senior in high school, Hartley had already applied for the prestigious school.

Trump boasted in Hartley during his speech, referring to his admiration as a six-letter varsity athlete and a “great student” with a 4.46 grade point average. Both feats were met with lots of applause from the room.
Trump’s praise for the teenager led to a very exciting announcement, where he informed Hartley that his dream of attending West Point would come true.
“It’s difficult to get in, but I’m happy to let you know that your application has been accepted,” Trump said, shocking Hartley and his mother.

Daniel was able to see Hartley tapping his shoulder to give him five before returning to his seat a few feet away.

Hartley and Daniel were two of the many everyday Americans Trump respected in his speech on Tuesday night.
