President Donald Trump spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday about issues ranging from war in Ukraine to US border security.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the White House began calling for Trump and Trudeau to discuss the four-nation showdown hockey tournament that Canada won, with both leaders saying, “The two countries’ teams He said he expressed his pride in excellence. A strong fighting hockey championship.”
“The debate has been transformed into a G7 call on Monday, marking the third anniversary of the invasion and war in Ukraine,” the statement added. “Prime Minister Trudeau has acknowledged that President Trump is the only world leader capable of pushing just and lasting peace, reflecting President Trump’s desire to see the end of the war.
“President Trump reminded the Prime Minister that the war should not have started and that he would not have been president at the time.”

The leaders also discussed US border security, a sensitive subject for Canadian officials since they imposed tariffs in response to drug trafficking at the US-Canadian border. Trump agreed to suspend tariffs for 30 days on February 3rd. In other words, tariffs are expected in early March.
During the call, Trudeau claims that Canada has achieved a 90% reduction in fentanyl crossings from Canada to the US, and his country’s border emperor will be in Washington next week for a meeting with US border chief Tom Homan He said.
Trump and Trudeau have developed a tense relationship, both due to tariffs and the interest in both Trump’s securing Canada as US territory. Earlier in February, Trudeau said he thought Trump was serious about turning Canada into the 51st US state.

“The Trump administration not only knows the number of important minerals we have, but that’s why they continue to talk about absorbing us and keeping us at 51st. Maybe it is,” according to the CBC. “They are very aware of our resources, what we have and are very hoping to be able to benefit from them.”
Trump previously complained that the US had complained about the trade deficit with Canada and that there was “no reason” for such an imbalance.

“We don’t need anything they have,” Trump wrote about the society of truth. “We have unlimited energy, we should have more wood than we can build our own cars and use. Without this massive subsidy, Canada would no longer exist as a viable country. Masu.
“So Canada should become our precious 51st state,” Trump added. “Much lower taxes, and much better military protection for Canadian people – no tariffs!”
