The nomination that former Georgia GOP Sen. David Purdue became President Donald Trump’s ambassador to China passed the Senator’s vote Monday evening to close the debate.
The vote begins a “two-hour clock” of limited discussion that will eventually end in a vote on Perdue’s nomination. That clock is usually 30 hours for cabinet-level officials.
Purdue has long been Trump’s ally and D-Ga. He lost the 2021 leaked election with Senator John Ossoff at just over 1%, or by around 55,000 votes.
He also has experience working in the global supply chain as a former CEO and other company at Tennessee-based Dollar General.

During his confirmation hearing, Perdieu said that “Marxist nationalism” would remake China and that their global ambitions would threaten the world order.
“Since 2000, China has doubled its nuclear weapons and has grown its troops at an invisible pace since World War II. They militarized the South China Sea and violated the agreement in Hong Kong. Their social credit score system and extensive policing capabilities are designed to enforce national control within the country.
“They talk about a global “common community” of common destiny for all humanity. Simply put, they want a world that fits more closely with their authoritarian principles. ”
Perdue continued to argue that Trump’s “America-first” strategy, which has a major impact on US-China relations, is “the opposite” rather than isolationist.

He said that, like Trump, he respects Chinese leader Xi Jinping, only strength, and if confirmed, he will work on mutual relations with Beijing and security agreements.
“Our approach to China should be subtle, nonpartisan and strategic,” Perdieu said.
In Taiwan, which China considers as a breakaway province, Perdue said he supports long-standing Chinese policy while committing to a “peaceful solution” of tensions accepted by both Beijing and Taipei.
