The Justice Department has suddenly fired at least three federal prosecutors involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots under Attorney General Pam Bondy, according to multiple reports.
Among those dismissed were two supervising lawyers who oversaw the Capitol riot prosecution at the U.S. Lawyer’s office in Washington, D.C., and prosecutor Line, who was directly involved in trying several related cases, according to the Associated Press. NBC News reportedly confirmed the shooting independently.

The prosecutor received the firing letter signed by Bondi. According to both outlets, the letter provided no specific reason for removal, citing only “Article 2 of the US Constitution and US laws.” The phrase is often used in federal employment laws to indicate the constitutional authority of an administrative agency to appoint or remove staff.
Fox News Digital contacted the Department of Justice for confirmation and comment but did not receive an immediate response.
President Trump has repeatedly introduced the defendant on January 6th as a political prisoner. On his first day back in the White House in January 2025, he allowed or commute to the sentence of about 1,500 individuals convicted or imprisoned in connection with the Capitol attack.

The latest end follows a wider modification of senior DOJ personnel.
In January, the department rejected more than 12 officials, whose special adviser Jack Smith had been working on an investigation into Trump. Attorney General James McHenry then justified the rescue by stating that those individuals were unreliable to “put the president’s agenda faithfully.”
During his time as an interim US lawyer in Washington, Ed Martin also demoted Capitol siege prosecutors, including two lawyers who secured convictions of inflammatory conspiracy against the leader of the Oath Keeper, Stewart Rhodes and the proud juvenile president, Enrique Talio.

In February, Attorney General Bondy ordered a review of Donald Trump’s federal indictment and launched a broad internal audit aimed at “restructuring the Department of Justice’s priorities” along the White House agenda. The efforts included the creation of a “Weaponization Working Group” tasked with examining “politicized justice” recognized across federal law enforcement.
The group is reportedly considering the actions of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who have brought civil and criminal cases against Trump and his family.
