The 8.8-sized earthquake in eastern Russia has prompted tsunami warnings on California coastlines, including Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
According to a US geological survey, the tremor was attacked at 4:25pm during the day in the Pacific Ocean, about 11 miles southeast of Petropavlovsk Kamchatka.

“Tsunami clocks are advance notice to areas that may later be affected by the tsunami,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. “The monitoring area may be upgraded to warning or advisory status or cancelled based on new information.”

Coastal areas under tsunami alerts are encouraged to stay late for additional updates and to be aware of estimated tsunami start times.

“If more information comes in, we’ll see that this will become a warning, recommendation, or information statement,” National Weather Service said in X.
According to a public recommendation posted on social media, Huntington Beach officials have closed the harbor, pier and all local beaches.
