Two people died early Wednesday in a fast-mistake crash on Long Beach Street.
The crash was reported at about 6:30am near Seventh Street and Terrain Avenue. One of the men was driving the wrong way before the head-on collision, police said.
Both drivers died at the scene.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda Civic Sedan was moving west on 7th Avenue on highways when the driver lost control of the vehicle,” Long Beach Police said in a statement. “The vehicle then turned towards traffic in conflicting lanes and collided head-on with the Honda agreement. At this point, speed appears to have been the cause of this collision.”
The driver of the Honda Agreement has been identified as Salvador Medina, a 37-year-old Long Beach resident. Details regarding the identity of the citizen driver were not immediately available.
“It was a very loud and intense crash,” an eyewitness told NBCLA. “I saw two cars broken.”
In the video, two Honda sedans are littered with crumpled front ends and debris scattered across the street. The items were placed at a monument near the scene of the crash.
