The pair of New Yorkers were arrested on suspicion of breaking into a home in Redondo Beach on Sunday morning and linking the two residents together “for a long period,” authorities said.
Redondo Beach Police received a 911 call just before 6am, according to a news release issued by the department. The unidentified caller said someone pointed a gun at someone else in the car. The caller hung up, but according to the release, police traced a call to a residence in the 1900 block of Matthews Avenue.
When they arrived, officers learned that two block residents were victims of an invasion robbery in the house.
Jesus Veres, 31, of Rochester, New York, and Doraven Luna, 21, of New York City, were found shortly afterwards in the area and arrested without incident, police said. They were booked for robbery, lure, and robbery allegations.
The unidentified victim was tied up inside the home “for a long period of time” prior to the 911 call, authorities said. Police said they both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital and were in stable condition.
Police said the lawsuit will be filed this week with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
In 2015, Beres pleaded guilty to arms and drug charges in Rochester, according to a statement issued by the US Lawyer’s Office for the Western District of New York.
