Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were injured after a helicopter training flight crash-landed in Los Alamitos, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.
Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a helicopter carrying two officers was conducting a training exercise in the 4000 block of Doolittle Street in Los Alamitos when “a minor training incident occurred that required an emergency landing,” a spokesperson said. Ta.
Officers told KTLA that the plane “suffered a mechanical failure” and made a hard landing, but a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said there was no further information about the nature of the incident.
According to the California National Guard, the incident appears to have occurred at the Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos, a joint training area for the National Guard. California National Guard and local officials at the base did not immediately respond to a Times inquiry about Tuesday evening’s incident.
Police said the two officers suffered minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.
Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration could not immediately be reached for comment regarding the incident.
