The Tesla driver and passenger were killed Saturday morning after the crash in Fullerton, authorities confirmed.
The clash was reported at 6:48am in the East Orangethorpe Avenue and South State College Boulevard areas, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
Investigations reveal that the white Tesla driver was moving west across Orange Thorpe when he ran a red light at the intersection. He then clipped a grey Toyota truck before crashing into the side of the Orange County Transit Authority Bus.
The male Tesla driver was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The female Tesla passenger was declared dead at the scene.
Their identity has not yet been released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
The bus and Toyota drivers remained on the scene and worked with authorities in the investigation.
Five passengers were taken to a local hospital on the octabus to treat minor injuries.
As of noon on Saturday, it is not yet clear whether alcohol or drugs were the source of the conflict.
