Police have arrested two suspects and are searching for a third person after a shooting near San Diego State University’s campus Thursday night, authorities said. One person was injured in this incident.
According to the San Diego Police Department, at 4:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a man shot in the 5100 block of College Avenue, near a trolley stop. According to a statement from the university, one victim was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state.
According to the university, neither the suspect nor the victim are affiliated with the school.
At 5:30 p.m., the university announced that one suspect was in custody. The school asked everyone on campus to stay indoors and be vigilant.
About 15 minutes later, the university issued a statement saying a second suspected shooter was in custody and a weapon was recovered. All remaining university classes and activities for that evening were canceled, the university said.
Police asked everyone to remain indoors until 7:35 p.m. as they search for a third suspect believed to be involved in the shooting.
After the search, police declared the suspect “clear” and concluded the third suspect was not on or near campus or posed a threat to the school community, the university said.
