The Butte County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing at Feather River Seventh-day Adventist School in Palermo. Deputies responded to a report of a shooting on campus and found the suspected shooter dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
It was not immediately known if the suspected shooter had ties to the campus community.
Two students were shot and taken to the hospital, but their condition was not immediately known, the sheriff’s office said.
There are 35 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, sheriff’s officials said. The other students were taken to the Oroville Church of the Nazarene in Oroville to be reunited with their parents.
