Two suspects have been arrested after a 21-year-old man was taken away and fatally shot and killed in Riverside County.
On July 14, deputies of the Julpa Valley Sheriff’s Office responded to the attack with a deadly weapon near Golden West Avenue and Condor Drive shortly after midnight.
Deputies discovered the victim Jose Martinez Contrera, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in danger. He died of injuries six days later.
The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived. Investigators later identified Lorenzo Howes Jr., 19, of Bloomington, as the suspect.
On July 18, he was taken into custody during a search warrant in Bloomington. He was booked at Robert Presley Detention Center for an attempted murder.
Detectives later learned that the victim had been targeted by an armed robber before he was fatally shot dead.

The armed robber suspect was identified as Darnell White, 19, of Julpa Valley. On July 20th, White was at his home and was arrested for murder and robbery.
No further details were released including possible motives and whether the victim and suspect were known to each other.
A fatal incident is under investigation.
