Two teenagers were shot dead near James Monroe High School Thursday morning after approaching five suspects at a bus stop, police said.
The shooting led to the North Hills campus being blocked as Los Angeles Police Department officials responded to the scene.
The shooting was reported at a bus stop near Nordoff Street and Orion Avenue at 9:30 a.m., LAPD officer Drake Madison said.
Madison said two victims approached five suspects and were shot dead.
The suspect was seen fleeing west from the scene, and the victim fled east.
The two teenagers were taken to a nearby hospital and are stable, Madison said.
The victim was uncooperative in the investigation and the suspect’s explanation was unavailable, he said.
Officials from the Los Angeles Unified School District sent warnings to parents to inform the lockdown.
“The Los Angeles School Police Department was called to our campus after an injured off-campus injury,” Alert read. “Our campus is safe and open to mentoring.”
