The Bruins historic season ended on Friday night.
The number one seed UCLA women’s baseball team lost to the UConn Husky 85-51 in the final four matches in Tampa, Florida.
Strong finished with 22 points, while FUDD scored all 19 points in the first half with the second seeded Husky. He won one win from his 12th National Championship and his team has won four straight since 2013-16, led by former Great Brena Stewart. The eight-year title drought is the longest for the Husky since winning its first title in 1995.
UConn will face the South Carolina defending champions on Sunday after the Gamecocks defeated the Texas 74-57 on Friday night. This is the rematch of the 2022 Championship Game, in which the Gamecocks won 64-49. The team met in February, and UConn shocked South Carolina with a 29-point road victory.
The Bueckers finished with 16 points after breaking over 30 in each of the previous three games of the Husky (36-3).
Star center Laurenbetts scored 26 points with the top seeded Bruins (34-3).
UCLA Women’s Basketball competed in two semi-finals in 1978 and 1979 with the Women’s Championship Association. In 1978, the team won the AIAW National Championship.
UCLA won 123 NCAA Championships. This is the latest in December when the men’s water polo team won its 13th NCAA title. UCLA ranks second in the nation in the NCAA Team Championship behind Stanford, surpassing the third USC.
