Federal immigration agents, supported by National Guard members, raided two Southern California cannabis farms, arresting dozens of people, including undocumented minors, and elicited violent clashes between hundreds of protesters and police officers.
The immigrants will be deploying at Glass House Farm in Camarillo, about 35 miles above the coast of another Glass House facility in Carlin Intiria, at around 8:30am.
In Camarillo, Sky5 videos detained agents detaining workers and made federal law enforcement presence on the field as hundreds of protesters began to gather.
US Attorney Bill Essayri has confirmed the operation of posting to X.
“Federal agents are running search warrants on this marijuana farm,” he wrote. “The agent has already arrested multiple individuals for obstructing this operation and will continue to arrest them. Please don’t interfere. You will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.”
The scene escalated around 12:35pm when tear gas and a non-fatal round were deployed to a crowd of protesters who blocked the roads on both the north and south Laguna roads.
Essayli later posted a video to X, showing what appeared to be someone firing at federal agents.
“[The] “The FBI has issued a $50,000 award for information leading to the conviction of an unknown subject who appears to have fired a pistol at federal law enforcement officials near Camarillo,” he said.
Customs and Border Patrol Commissioner Rodney Scott posted that 10 undocumented minors on the Camarillo Farm, eight of whom have found unaccompanied, and that the Glass House is currently under investigation for a child labour violation.
“This is Newsom’s California,” he added.
The first responder at the Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene regarding reporting a multi-layer incident, but was forced to set up a triage system for people injured by tear gas at a safe distance from ongoing operations.
Five people were taken to hospital, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In a statement, Ventura County Firefighters said their presence was “only to provide medical assistance” and the department “has nothing to do with federal immigration enforcement measures.”
Similarly, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were deployed to manage traffic, but said at a time when they were not involved in federal operations.
By about 6:30pm, about 200 protesters were still in the ground with more than 30 troops, many plaques and federal agents.

During Carpinteria surgery, Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Santa Barbara) attempted to enter an area that was contained by federal agents, but was denied access and turned around.
Carvajal issued a statement following an enforcement operation from the Department of Homeland Security, which he described a “troubling lack of transparency” since the Trump administration began the collapse of famous immigrants in California.

“I request the Department of Homeland Security for answers to find out who they will detain and where detainees are being taken,” the statement reads in part. “These militarized ice attacks are not a way to keep our communities safe. This kind of disruption only separates our families and our tear communities.”
Just before 8pm, DHS officials reposted the video originally placed on X by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Glass House Farms investor Marc Cohodes claims to be the biggest [legal] “The Times reported that the Raids were called “outrageous.”
Glass House issued a short statement on X.
“Glass House Farm was visited today by ICE officials. The company will fully comply with the agent’s search warrant and will provide further updates if necessary.”
It is unclear how many undocumented workers and protesters have been detained, but the DHS issued a statement saying:
“DHS law enforcement agencies are enforcing criminal warrants at marijuana facilities. Our brave officers will continue to enforce the law.”
