Universal Studios Hollywood is preparing to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary by offering new food and merchandise at the Hello Kitty & Friends Cafe and Sanrio Smile Shop in CityWalk.
The cafe will introduce three new sweets to commemorate the 50th anniversary. A 50th anniversary cake with chocolate ganache, buttercream, crispy pearls and pink ribbon. The 50th cookie sandwich is a Hello Kitty-themed cookie sandwich with raspberry filling and a sparkling logo. The 50th sparkling drink is a strawberry soda with coconut cream, strawberry powder, and edible glitter.

“We really wanted to capture the iridescence of Hello Kitty. I mean, if you look at all of her 50th lines, even her new costumes, everything is iridescent. We wanted to make sure we carried that shine into our food,” Universal Studios Hollywood executive chef Julia Thrush, who prepared the new culinary lineup, told KTLA.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Slash said two new treats, hot chocolate and mochabou bombs, will be featured on the menu.

The cafe offers a wide selection of sweet treats to take home, including macaron sets, Hello Kitty cookies, and drinks.
Sanrio Smile Shop’s 50th anniversary merchandise includes Hello Kitty T-shirts, stuffed animals, ceramic mugs, tumblers, notepads, hats, aprons, signs, stationery kits, lanyards, cell phone bags, backpacks, and more.
Inside the theme park, Hello Kitty will be wearing a pastel pink dress as she greets guests at the Animation Studio Store in the Upper Lot.
The event commemorating Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary will be held from November 1st to December 31st.
CityWalk is home to Los Angeles County’s first Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe.
