The family of a 16-year-old boy killed by a South Los Angeles hit-and-run driver over the weekend is seeking public help in identifying the person responsible for the teenager’s death.
Anyone who can provide information that leads to the identity of the person who attacked and killed Hayden’s neighbor can use the reward of up to $50,000. The teenager was riding a pocket bike around 2am on Sunday near the intersection of Century Boulevard and San Pedro Street when the driver slammed him and took off.
“That guy caused damage,” said Toya Gibbhand, the heartbroken mother of a neighbor. “I’m sure I’ll never heal from now on.”
The neighbor’s surveillance camera captured the horrifying moment when the driver hits the teenager, then died.
“Look at him, just look at him. He didn’t deserve it,” Givehand said.
My neighbor was a soccer player from Fremont High School. Despite his mother’s concerns, he enjoyed his pocket bike trip and usually went home.
“That particular night, I don’t know, that was not,” said the grieving mother. “I called, ‘Where is Hayden?” Hayden wasn’t in his room… he was 10 blocks from the house, he was on his way. ”
The vehicle of Death is described as a dark-colored Toyota Corolla. Police hope that someone will recognize the vehicle in the video to assist in the incident.
“I want justice for my children,” Givehand said.
“If you know someone who knows someone, they’ll hand him over because someone knows,” said Scott Baden, the victim’s uncle.
