Police and media reports show that a 32-year-old Washington man, a former US Army soldier who has been “extensively trained,” is on the run and is accused of under-10 of the horrifying murder of his three daughters.
On May 30, the girls’ mother told officials at Wenatchee Police Station that her ex-husband Travis Decker had not returned with 9-year-old Peytin, 8-year-old Evelyn and 5-year-old Olivia after a planned visit that day.
Additionally, the 32-year-old’s phone call went straight to voicemail.
Police in Wenatchee, a town about 100 miles east of Seattle, said the visit was part of an arranged “parenting plan,” and that his failure to return home was “the cause of the alarm.”
Police requested an amber alert from the Washington state patrol that night, but were told the situation didn’t meet the standards. The following day, an endangered missing person alert was issued.
Information developed by the FBI led police to narrow their search to a campsite about 20 miles northwest of Wenatchee near Leavenworth.
Before 4pm on June 2nd, authorities found Decker’s vacant pickup truck with the help of the Homeland Security Investigation and the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
The girl’s body was found around 100 yards from the vehicle, and everyone was zipped, the AP reported. Police believe they died of choking.

Sheriff’s official told CBS News that the 32-year-old, who joined the Army in 2013 and transferred to the Washington National Guard in 2021, is “savvy” in survival and lives away from the grid for several months at a time.
In an interview, Whitney Decker, the 32-year-old ex-wife, said the couple’s divorce after seven years of marriage was a citizen and had no issues during their previous visits.

Towards the end of their marriage, he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, CBS reported, and Whitney didn’t think he was taking medication because of the illness.
Authorities continued searching for Decker in the rugged wilderness of the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest, saying a reward of up to $20,000 could be used for information that could lead to his arrest.
It is unclear whether the 32-year-old, hoping to get an invitation and murder, is armed, and police may find him not to approach or contact him, but urged him to call 911 instead.
