Hours after a highly anticipated arrival in Los Angeles, the US Marines were seen detaining a man next to a federal building in Westwood on Friday evening.

According to the Associated Press, the man who was self-identified as Army veteran Marcos Leo wore headphones when he walked to protected property without listening to military orders.

A former Army combat engineer said he was heading towards veteran issues when he noticed Marines telling him to stop. “Of course, when I crossed the first checkpoint, I followed. They told me to get on the ground,” Leao told the Associated Press crew.

“This is strange,” Leo said of the encounter. “I’ve become [U.S.] In fact, they are citizens through the military. ”

Leao pointed out that what happened was “annoying” but he understood why he was taken into custody, remained compliant and released without any problems. “Nothing wrong, it’s just a procedure,” says Leao. “It’s a federal building, so I understand that everything that happens here can actually get federal accusations.”

“They took me quite a bit. I communicated with them and let them know what was going on,” Leao said. “[They said] “This is a stressful situation for everyone and we all have the work to do, so this is fine, the more we follow the order, the more we are, the more we are, and we can just walk away,” that was it. ”

A few hours ago, Sky 5 was overhead at the federal buildings on Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue. There, Gilleavus of KTLA reported that he saw a group of Marines stationed outside and patrolling the complex.

“The Marines are here and they are around the building itself,” Leibus reported. “It looks like they’re here for a while, but they’re here to serve and protect property, a federal building in the Westwood area.”

The deployment of the Marine Corps has sparked a lot of controversy among government officials, with most local leaders calling on the Trump administration to let the National Guard discharge, but the man who was detained Friday said what happened to him would serve as a reminder for those who could face federal forces over the weekend.

“It reminds you to make a great observance with everything they say,” Leao said of his interactions with the Marines.
