Metro announced on Friday it will begin consecutive weekend-only street rail closures at Van Nuys Boulevard for continued construction of the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project.
The street closure will affect Vanneu’s Boulevard from Oxnard Street to Delano Street in Vanneu’s.
According to Metro, the detours implemented to reduce traffic in the area are:
Northbound Van Nuys Boulevard, between Oxnard Street and Calvert Street, will be closed. Before returning to Vanneis Boulevard, traffic deviates left on Oxnard Street, to the right on Quester Avenue and Victory Boulevard. The southbound lane of Van Nuiss Boulevard will be reduced to one lane between Delano and Oxnard Streets.

Additionally, there is construction to support the existing storm drains at the Van Nuys Metro G (Orange) Line Station.
During the closure, bus routes 233, 237, and 761 travelling northwards on Van Neuis Boulevard will be decoupled to the right of Oxnard Avenue, head left to Hazeltin Avenue, heading back to Victory Boulevard.
According to Metro, the southbound bus line will not be affected by weekend construction.
The completion of the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project is scheduled to take place in 2031 and will connect 6.7 miles of light rails in neighbourhoods such as Vannuisse, Panorama City, Aleta and Pacoima along Vannuisse Boulevard, one of the busiest streets in the San Fernando Valley.
Businesses affected by ongoing construction can reach out to Metro for support through mitigation programs.
