Vice President JD Vance has argued that Tulsi Gabbard’s director of the Tulsi Gabbard state is a key team member of Trump’s “coalition” after President Donald Trump said he “don’t care” about lawmakers earlier talking to lawmakers about Iran’s nuclear threat.
“Dni Gabbard is a veteran, patriot and a loyal supporter of President Trump and a key part of the coalition he built in 2024,” Vance said Wednesday in a statement in Fox News Digital.
“She is an important member of our team and we are grateful for her tireless work to keep America safe from foreign threats.”

Vance and Gabbard have historically been outspoken leaders of the non-interventionist camps that make up the Trump administration. Both have historically supported the doctrine of foreign policy that supports minimal interference with the operations of other countries.
In comparison, more other Hawkish members of Trump’s Cabinet, like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have historically supported military intervention in foreign conflicts.
But Vance has publicly supported Trump as the administration considers the next steps to deal with Iran. Vance said Tuesday that anyone worried about foreign interventions is right to worry, but Trump has “earned some degree of trust in the matter.”
“And since I’ve seen this up close, I can assure him that he’s only interested in using the US military to achieve American goals,” Vance said in Tuesday’s Truth Social Post. “Whatever he does, that’s his focus.”
Vance’s support statement for Gabbard said he believes Iran is not actively building nuclear weapons after Trump appeared to have discounted Gabbard’s Senators Intelligence Committee statement in March.
Gabbard told lawmakers in March that the intelligence news community “rated Iran “not building nuclear weapons,” and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not permitted the nuclear weapons programme that was stopped in 2003.”

She added, “Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is at its highest level and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons.”
“Iran will support its withdrawal from the region by restructuring its loose consortium of like-minded terrorist actors called the axis of resistance in opposition to Israel, continuing its efforts to withdraw from the region, and calling for it to be retreated,” she said at a hearing in March.

Additionally, Gabbard released the video on June 10th, where he stated that the world is “on the brink of nuclear annihilation.” Politico reported to White House peers that Trump believes Gabbard is in line and that the video is an attempt to prevent Israel from supporting Iran.
Gabbard’s vice-chief of staff, Alexa Henning, in a post on X on Tuesday, said Politico’s story was “Total Clickbait.”
How close was Iran to nuclear weapons before Israel’s strike against Tehran?
Trump told reporters on Monday in the Air Force that Iran believed it was “very close” to obtaining nuclear weapons. When asked specifically about Gabbard’s March testimony, Trump stuck to his assessment of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
“I don’t care what she said,” Trump said. “I think they were very close to having it.”

Still, officials from the National Intelligence Director General said in a statement Wednesday of Fox News Digital that Gabbard and the president are lined up in Iran.
“Just because Iran is not building nuclear weapons now, doesn’t mean they’re not “very close,” as President Trump said about Air Force 1,” the official said. “Potus and Dni Gabbard’s statements are in line with each other.”
Gabbard was not invited to David Camp in Maryland in June to convene with other military authorities and ministers. But she was in the White House situation room on Tuesday, so Trump was keeping an eye on updates in the Middle East.
White House officials told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that their views and statements on Trump and Gabbard’s issues are consistent with each other, and Gabbard said in March that he believes Iran has the capacity to build nuclear weapons.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that he hadn’t yet decided whether to involve the US in a strike that targeted Iran, but he told him that he would be very big in the coming days or next week.
“Yes, I might do that. I might not do that. I mean, no one knows what I’m going to do. I can tell you this, Iran has a lot of trouble and they want to negotiate,” Trump told reporters Wednesday. “And I said, “Why didn’t you negotiate with me before all of this death and destruction? Why didn’t you go?” I said to people, “Did you not negotiate with me two weeks ago? It’s so sad to see this.”
