“Terrain—not the wind—” [is driving] LAFD’s warning describes it as a “fire with steep slopes,” KTLA 5’s Rich Prickett told Sky5, compared to last week, when Santa Ana winds ravaged parts of Southern California and contributed to its rapid spread. “I didn’t feel much turbulence,” he said. A look at the wildfires in Ventura County.
Smoke billowed up the steep hillside and billowed into the air above the neighborhood immediately adjacent to the fire site.
” [roughly five-acre] LAFD PIO Steward told KTLA by phone: “The fire is adjacent to a reservoir, so there is no immediate threat to residences. Fortunately, this is not wind-driven…water coming in. There are problems,” he said. There are no fire hydrants in the area, so trucks carrying large amounts of water, so-called water tankers, are dispatched to serve as a water source. ”
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
