Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday night after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a harbor in Marina del Rey, officials confirmed to KTLA.

Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the incident occurred, but Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to a report of a vehicle submerged in water at 4675 Admiralty Way just after 6 p.m. .

Los Angeles County Fire Department Public Information Officer Marco Rodriguez said the two occupants were able to extricate themselves from the vehicle after it submerged in water.

Both men were evaluated by fire department medical personnel and transported to a nearby hospital, where their condition is unknown.

Rodriguez said two L.A. County Lifeguard divers were deployed to ensure no other occupants were trapped inside the vehicle.

Witness Johnny Hamczyk told KTLA that a third woman got out of the car before it went into the water, but authorities have not confirmed that detail.

A Los Angeles driver allegedly caused a fatal hit-and-run that targeted a 16-year-old boy.

Footage of the recovery operation showed crews attaching a large yellow flotation device to the vehicle, which was secured to a crane, before being finally pulled out of the water and loaded onto a tow truck.

The vehicle had extensive front-end damage, likely from crashing through a steel railing and into the water.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but no further details have been released.
