Officials announced Wednesday that two former Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were charged in connection with a battle at a bar where one deputy allegedly assaulted his wife and both attacked security guards.

The altercation occurred shortly after midnight on March 30th outside El Rey Cantina on Ventura Boulevard, Camarillo, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. The former agents have been identified as 33-year-old Dylan Davis of Ventura and Anthony Maragon, 27, of Camarillo.

Speaking to KTLA in May, Jayden Perkins was working as a security guard at the Cantina when he noticed three men and another woman crying hysterically at the back table.

Surveillance video says Davis pushes his wife multiple times before he walks inside the restaurant. The still crying woman returned to the table, where her friend seemed to comfort her.

Perkins asks KTLA if the woman is okay, but she doesn’t respond, and her friend assures him that everything is fine. Shortly afterwards, the woman and her friends came out of the bar. That’s when Perkins said he heard screams and fuss just outside the front door.

As he went outside, Perkins allegedly saw Davis attack his wife near a bench on the sidewalk.

Dylan Davis (white shirt) and Anthony Maragon, 27, are seen leaving Camarillo’s El Rey Cantina on March 30, 2025, just before a violent altercation with the victim. Ellei Cantina is located on Ventura Boulevard, Camarillo, California on May 27, 2025. (KTLA) Jaiden Perkins can be seen in personal photos.

“He pushed her in,” Perkins recalls. “She stood up and he began to suffocate her, and he shook her left to the right side of my face.”

Perkins said he turned around, and it was Maragon, the second vice-chairman, who worked him on the ground. It is said that both men then kicked and stomped on the head.

“Davis and Maragon are accused of jointly assaulting the guards who intervened after witnessing Davis attacking his wife,” the District Attorney’s Office said at its release. “Davis is also accused of abusing the outward vice-chairman of a woman who tried to restrain him during the argument.”

Perkins was hospitalized after the incident and told KTLA that he suffered concussions and injuries to his head, jaw, arms, back and neck.

Both Davis and Maragon are charged with felony assault by means of a high probability of causing serious injuries. Davis is also facing felony charges of spouse battery and misdemeanor battery charging.

“The felony domestic violence and assault charges are particularly serious and reflect the results of a comprehensive investigation by the main crime department of the Security Bureau,” District Attorney Eric Nasalenko said in a statement. “No one is beyond the law. Our office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to bring justice to all crime victims.”

Conybeare and Vivian Chow contributed to this report.
