Vermont lawmakers defend the call “choose winners and losers” as a rich accusation of the “equipped” economy

Vermont lawmakers were stuck behind comments made between recent methods and measures to hear the role of government in the economy that attracted the attention of national Republicans.

“Now our system is equipped to our workers, our poorest neighbors, and the most vulnerable members of our community,” state Assemblyman Teddy Wassezaka. Fox News Digital asked about comments made during the debate on property tax scope and comments praising their fair share.

“I feel very strongly about this and I feel like I need to say this,” Wasszak stepped in during a committee discussion last week.

“The market chooses winners and losers, which is the job of government and tax law.

Chamber of Commerce officials responded by saying that there might be a place for the government to “play judgement,” but “I don’t think it’s appropriate to choose winners and losers. [or] It targets a specific class of payers based on likes and dislikes…it’s a slippery slope. ”

Another Democrat on the committee cried, saying he didn’t believe Wassezak was trying to split the tax on the basis of personal likes and dislikes.

Vermont Republicans were seized in video clips of the hearing, and Vermont GOP Chairman Paul Dam says such commentary is the standard for Montpellier’s course, as government control and the stories of “winners and losers” are often linked to socialist political thought.

Gov. Phil Scott is a Republican, but Congress has long been the place where the ideas on the far left are placed on paper, Dame said.

“Unfortunately, Deputy Representative Wasissack is verbally expressing what so many Vermont Democrats believe in and how they legislated,” he said.

“They believe it’s their job to have Vermont tilt the scale in the way they see the fit, rather than playing on equal arenas.”

In a comment on Fox News Digital, Waszazak reaffirmed his claims from the hearing, saying, “The rich are becoming rich, and the poor are becoming poor.”

He pointed to the increase in wealth for billionaire Elon Musk, President Donald Trump and Amazon/Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.

Citing discussions at the hearing, he revolved around funding affordable housing and splitting Vermont’s earners into nine tax ranges, saying he wanted to see the tax structure where working classes are the most profitable.

Fox News Digital also contacted Sen. Bernie Sanders of I-Vt. – A self-proclaimed democratic socialist – for comments on his fellow Vermont.

On Sanders’ official website, the video featuring then-21-year-old Wasizak showed future lawmakers saying they believe America’s dreams have faded.

“A lot of my generation are growing up and I think I’m aware that this is not the country or economy we promise. We were told when we were kids that if you worked hard, if you went to school, you could ultimately buy a child and get a job.

On X, which was previously Twitter, Waszazak appeared to be receiving criticism on Stride.

When critics posted the video clip and asked, “Are you kidding me?” Democrats reposted: “I’m Teddy Waszak and I approve this message.”
