The woman who was struck and killed by a driver chasing her in Winnetka over the weekend has been identified.
Christina David, 46, died Saturday afternoon at the scene of an accident in the San Fernando Valley community.
She was driving her Tesla westbound on Saticoy Street when it collided with a white SUV traveling southbound on Mason Avenue. Police said the driver was involved in a brief police pursuit that began after a reported car theft, ran a red light and collided with a Tesla.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said the pursuit lasted about a minute before the driver ran a red light.
David died at the scene. Items were placed at a memorial near the crash site over the weekend.
Occupants of several other vehicles were also injured in the accident.
The stolen SUV ended up on its side.
The driver who was pursuing the vehicle was arrested at the scene.
According to a 2023 report to the Los Angeles Police Commission, there were approximately 4,200 LAPD pursuits from 2018 to March 2023, and approximately 25% ended in fatal or bodily injury accidents.
