Senior staff at the office of California Rep. Sarah Jacobs was the victim of an armed carjack in the Washington, D.C., a popular Washington, D.C., neighborhood on Friday afternoon, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Metro police announced two arrests Sunday for armed carjacking that occurred in a Harris Teaser parking lot in Washington’s Navy Yard area on Friday afternoon.

In addition to the victim’s personal belongings, senior staff’s government-issued iPhone, MacBook, ID and Capitol parking passes have been identified as missing in a police report obtained by Fox News Digital. Jacobs’ office did not provide a comment, but confirmed that the device was quickly wiped out.

According to Metro Police, the suspect left the victim’s car at about 12:08pm on Friday and approached the victim when he asked for the keys to the victim’s car. When staff refused, one of the suspects wielded a handgun and obtained the keys before the suspect escaped from the victim’s car scene, police said.

Officials recovered the victim’s car and firearm on Saturday and arrested two suspects. Police say a 15-year-old Washington boy was charged with armed carjacking, while a 14-year-old Maryland boy was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and without misuse of a vehicle.

As of Sunday, police are still searching for two outstanding suspects whose photos were taken during the incident by surveillance cameras.

Navy Yard is a popular Washington neighborhood south of the US Capitol and home to the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium. The neighborhood has transformed into an urban hub for council staff and young professionals over the past decade, but it has also been the subject of criticism for its crime.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said he was walking to the Navy Yard Metro Station for a transport safety event last month when he learned that a Washington Metropolitan Transportation Agency (WMATA) officer had just been stabbed in the face.

Wmata confirmed the incident with Fox News Digital and said the suspect stabbed the officer “with a sharp metal object” after failing to pay the fare at the station.

President Donald Trump vowed to clean Washington while speaking at a “Make America Great Again” rally on the 2024 campaign trail. Since returning to the office in January this year, Trump has committed to creating “crime-free capital.”

“We’re cleaning the city, we’re cleaning this wonderful capital,” the president said. “And we don’t intend to have a crime, we don’t intend to support it,” Trump told the Justice Department earlier this year.

Jacobs staff did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
