Footage of what police describe as a road anger-related hate crime in Irvine last week has surfaced, showing a 54-year-old man appears to be throwing hot coffee at another driver after throwing racial slander at the man.
Irvine police said the attack, which was allegedly unfolded around 9:30 a.m. on Sand Canyon Avenue near the Interstate, at about 9:30 a.m. on July 22, was about 9:30 a.m., on the other hand, on the attack.
Police said the victim was driving in the southbound lane of Sand Canyon Avenue when he encountered Leontacket screaming at a Hispanic truck driver in the southbound lane of Sand Canyon Avenue, but it is unclear exactly.
After passing the initial argument, Tackett followed the victim, aggressively moving into his lane multiple times, causing several collisions.

“Tuckett shouted racial slander at the victim before drinking hot coffee in the victim’s car,” the release said. “The liquid landed on the victim’s face, hands and inside his car.”
In footage of the incident captured by the victim, Tacket can be seen speeding up to reach the victim’s car behind the wheels of a white Ford Sprinter van with a ladder placed on top of the vehicle.
Following the incident, the victim’s family posted a video on social media, reporting the horrifying ordeal to the police. Police chased the 54-year-old and took him into custody on July 24th.
Authorities said he was booked for worsening assault and hate crimes.
They also believe that there may be additional victims of Tackett and others who have witnessed the latest incident. Anyone with additional information or footage of a suspicious crime is encouraged to email rtex@cityofirvine.org.
