Police arrested a San Gabriel Valley woman suspected of driving under influence after she tried to avoid an officer very slowly, as seen in video footage released on Saturday.
The Alhambra Police Station, shared in an Instagram post, said it was patrolling the areas of 4th Street and Mission Road when officers responded to the hit and run incident.
Officers found the suspect’s vehicle and tried to stand up to the driver, but police said she was not cooperating.
“The suspect refuses to roll the window and just sits there. She will somehow become invisible, as if she has still been staying long enough,” read the caption of the department’s social media post.
However, after an unspecified time, the woman decided to make a U-turn and head to the apartment complex, police said.
“There was a officer literally right behind her, so she casually drove into the apartment complex, waiting for the gate to open (as if it was trying to stop us). “She wasn’t fast, she wasn’t furious, but she was arrested.”
Police also found the suspect identified as Alhambra’s Natalie Rankin driving under the influence. She was booked at APD Prison.
“A real crime? That terrible exit strategy,” the department’s written submission concluded.
Although details are limited, authorities did not initially report any injuries as a result of the incident.
