Progressive left champion Sen. Elizabeth Warren praises Democratic socialist Zoran Mamdani for her focus on affordability as she runs for mayor of the country’s most populous city as a Democrat model.
When asked by Fox News when Mamdani was about what the party’s future should look like, he asked when teaming up with the Democratic New York City mayoral candidate at a campaign event at Union HQ on Monday, Warren replied, “You’re a bet.”
“The Democrats need to stand up and be clear. We are the party that fights for affordability. It means child care. It means housing. It means health care. It means making this country better for workers who make this country work,” Warren said.
And pointing to Mamdani, Warren said, “The Democrats are not just talking every day, they’re the ones who take walks and make our country more affordable for workers, and I’m with the guy who’s walking now.”

Mamdani, a 33-year-old Ugandan-born state legislator from Queens’ New York City Autonomous Region, shocked the political world in late June, winning the Democratic mayoral nomination for Andrew Cuomo’s former government and nine other candidates in the overwhelmingly blue city.
An energetic campaign focused on affordable prices and the high cost of living in New York City, as well as a massive grassroots army, as well as Mamdani, Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, earned major victories.

Mamdani has made smart use of social media platforms, including Tiktok. He also proposed eliminating fares for taking New York City’s vast bus system, creating rent to freeze Cuny (City University in New York) into city homes “free of charges”, providing “free childcare” for children up to five years old, and establishing a government-run grocery store.

He is a clear frontline election in the November general election as he aims to make history as New York City’s first Muslim and the first mayor of millennials.
Republicans have targeted Mamdani and tried to turn him into a new face for Democrats.[ing] They aim to pin him to vulnerable Democrats across the country running in elections this year and next year.
Despite his defeat in the Democratic nomination, Cuomo is running in the general election as an independent candidate. Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 during his third term amid multiple scandals, is hoping to make a political comeback.
The general election vote also includes incumbent Eric Adams, who announced earlier this year that he would seek reelection as an independent candidate rather than seeking a Democrat nomination in poll figures, and incumbent Curtis Swawa, co-founder of the co-election for the second consecutive election.
Warren targeted Cuomo and insisted that the former governor “the overall path here is to go to a few billionaires, give them a lot of money and hope you’ll flood the city with lots of negative ads.”

Khaomo continued to target Mamdani at his campaign event on Monday and announced his own public safety proposal for the city.
The former governor calls Mamdani “anti-politics” and claims he “doesn’t understand the need for public safety.”
Mandani faces new scrutiny over past statements made on social media in 2020 following the massive shootings in a midtown Manhattan office building last week, when he called for police to be repaid multiple times.

Warren’s event with Mamdani was part of a multifaceted push to support him with a push to the mayor of New York City.
The senator, who failed to do Democrats’ 2020 presidential nomination, also released a social media video celebrating Mamdani, writing an opinion piece that appeared in Rolling Stone.
