Thousands of athletes from around the world will run through the city of Los Angeles on Sunday for their 40th run of the Los Angeles Marathon, announced by ASICS.
The 26.2-mile race will take participants from Stadium to the Stars through the vibrant regions of the city, such as Chinatown, Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and promise an unforgettable experience through iconic landmarks of the past, such as Chinese theatres, Echo Park Lake and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

LA’s proprietary KTLA is the exclusive local broadcast partner for the Los Angeles Marathon. Live coverage will begin on Sunday at 6am on TV, cable and satellite, and will start live on the free KTLA+ app on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV and Newer Samsung Smart TV. The history of the La Marathon
The Los Angeles Marathon, first held in 1986, was inspired by the success of the 1984 Summer Olympics Games in Los Angeles. Since its founding, the marathon has grown into one of the largest and most iconic marathons in the United States, captivating over 20,000 participants a year.
In its early days, the marathon was known as the Los Angeles Marathon City. The event has seen many changes and milestones over the decades.
Since 2008, the Los Angeles Marathon has been owned by Frank McCourt, former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Hosted by the McCourt Foundation, The Marathon helps to cure neurological diseases and “empower communities to build a healthier world.”
