Remember when Elon Musk said that Tesla Cybertruck was “waterproof enough to serve as a boat”?
Based on what happened in Ventura on Monday morning, the statement may be more ambitious than based on reality.
Reports say that while the driver was about to fire a jet ski, the cybertruck was submerged in Ventura port.
“The driver, a male Ventura, was offloading a personal jet ski-type vessel… he was clearly planning on moving forward, but accidentally placing the truck inverted and returning it to the water,” the Ventura County star reports.
The man was able to get out of the car, but footage from the scene shows that initial responder conditions were required to drag an electric pickup out of the seawater.
The actual recovery process was only 30 minutes, but the truck was underwater for almost two hours.
“We did not intentionally plunge into the response to investigate any potential dangers and ensure that our contingency plan was implemented,” Towboatus Ventura spokesman Carson Shevitz told Starr.
