Wedding memorabilia destroyed in wildfire at newlyweds’ home

Days after the happiest day of their lives, the newlyweds learn that a wildfire has gutted their family’s Camarillo home, destroying everything in sight, including their irreplaceable wedding mementos. Ta.

After celebrating their marriage in Paso Robles, Brittany Verrett and Jaime Sifontes are on top of the world for what they’ve worked so hard to do for so long.

Then, four days after the wedding, while on their honeymoon in Monterey, Verrett’s parents called and told them about the wildfire.

“I was planning on leaving on Wednesday and coming home anyway,” Verrett explained. “We had planned to stay all day, but my mom called me in the morning and told me there was a fire near the canyon, but it never really got over 118 degrees. , usually don’t worry.

About two hours after driving home, the parents learned on KTLA that the house was in flames. They delivered the heartbreaking news to the newlyweds.

“It felt like the longest car ride of my life,” Verrett recalled. “There wasn’t much we could do, so I just start thinking about everything in that house, all the memories. It’s the only home I’ve ever known.”

Sifontes and Verret lost everything from their wedding day.

“My wedding dress, all of our registry gifts. We were living with them and we were kind of saving everything that we didn’t have room for in their house,” Verrett said. spoke. “Like everything we were preserving and building for the future.”

Sifontes said she lived in the house for five years and also has very strong memories of it.

“It felt like home to me. Of course, I’m very close to my wife’s family,” he said.

After learning what happened to the young couple, their wedding planner organized a GoFundme campaign to help them and their families rebuild their home and life.

“I’m very grateful to my family for helping me. I’m very grateful to Camarillo and I’m just going to try to move forward,” Sifontes said.
