Authorities said the wife of a Weatherband member fired the weapon at an officer while ignoring orders to place her weapon, Los Angeles police said Thursday that shed more light on Wednesday’s shooting at Eagle Rock.
Gillian Schliner, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Schliner, was injured after being shot by a police officer who was searching for three people involved in a hit and rank rush on the highway.
“Our investigation revealed evidence such as shell casings and video footage. It shows that she repeatedly ignored police orders and fired weapons at LAPD officers.”
Schliner was released Thursday morning on a $1 million bond after being booked for an attempted murder of a peace officer. Her next court hearing is set for April 30th.
A series of events began Wednesday afternoon after authorities responded to a crash of three vehicles on the 134 highway in Eagle Rock near Figueroa Street. in the San Gabriel Valley community east of Los Angeles.
Officers began scouting as the driver and passengers abandoned the car after the collision and ran to a nearby neighborhood near Eagle Vista Drive and Figuero A Street. During the search, Schliner came out of her house and began firing her weapons, LAPD said.
Schliner was taken to hospital to treat a life-threatening injury. Police were not injured, police said.
According to LAPD, a 9mm handgun was recovered from his home.
