Wendell Pierce blames ‘nasty fans’ for ruining World Series

Television star Wendell Pierce said he would remember Game 5 and the final game of the 2024 World Series, but for all the wrong reasons.

In a series of tweets Wednesday, the “Jack Ryan” and “The Wire” actor addressed the hand that ruined the night at Yankee Stadium, where the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a late-game victory over the Bronx Bombers. He blamed unruly behavior and “unpleasant fans.” . Pierce tweeted that he left Wednesday’s game early, claiming that “people threw things at me” after talking to Dodgers fans. He tweeted about his experience two hours after sharing his excitement for Game 5, rooting for the Yankees and posting a video wearing a hat with the team’s logo.

“Unruly, obnoxious people can ruin everything. Worst experience ever,” the 60-year-old New Orleans native tweeted. “Games and experiences have no meaning now. The spirit of sport ends with human ugliness.”

In a subsequent tweet, Pierce lamented the raucous fans, who he said came to World Series games to commit “foul behavior,” and criticized seasoned players from both teams, including Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole and the Dodgers’ series. He added that it takes away the experience of watching a game. MVP Freddie Freeman. Pearce said, “This game means nothing to me because all I remember is the obnoxious fans I had to avoid.”

Pearce did not provide further details about the allegedly offensive sports fan. He spoke out about his rant a day after Yankees fans fumed after he was accused of interfering with Dodgers star Mookie Betts in Game 4. Austin Capobianco, the Yankees fan who grabbed Betts’ glove and pried the ball away, told the Times: He’s such a passionate fan that he’s probably crossed the line. ”

Before Wednesday’s game in the Bronx, the Dodgers had secured a 3-1 lead in the series, but multiple early points by the Yankees meant the team had no intention of returning to Los Angeles for Game 6. It seemed like that. And in what Betts called a “crazy” fifth inning, the boys in blue pounced on errors and gaffes, scoring five runs and erasing the Yankees’ 5-0 lead.

The game was competitive from there, with the Dodgers leading 7-6 going into the 9th inning. There were many twists and turns, with starting pitcher Walker Buehler assuming the role of closer and ultimately securing the victory with a strikeout of former Dodger Alex Verdugo by the Yankees. Los Angeles may have won, but Pierce couldn’t care less about the final score.

“The players will always be remembered by me,” he said in another tweet. “The game is [will] It doesn’t make any sense. ”

He posted a video of himself from Game 1 of the World Series, congratulating the Dodgers on their victory. Video shows the actor cheering along with the Los Angeles crowd at Dodger Stadium on Saturday. “The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series Champions,” he captioned the clip.

The Dodgers returned to town Thursday morning with the World Series trophy. After Angelenos took over the streets of L.A. on Wednesday night to celebrate the team’s eighth World Series victory, the festivities continue into Friday with an official parade downtown followed by a ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium. followed by.
