At West Hollywood apartments, a once-warming neighbor has carefully come and go.
“I’m just blindfolded and trying to avoid him,” said Michael Proctor, who lives in the complex. “(I) don’t talk to him, pretend he’s not there.”
Proctor talks about one of his neighbors, whom he says everyone in the building is afraid.
“He slammed our plants against the wall, smashed glass on the sidewalk, and literally chased people down the street,” Proctor explained.
Recently, security footage captured a man pounding his neighbor’s door hard with what appears to be a clover. Another video shows a man with shirtless body pounding at the same door.
The neighbor said that the man who lived in the building for two years was once friendly, but something had changed a few months ago.
“The last three months have been when it started to get really bad,” Proctor said. “(He’s) destroying his apartment. I can only describe it as if I could imagine it being taken to every wall of his building.”
That timeline coincides with when the building owner said he had provided him with an unpaid rent eviction notice.
She refused to speak on camera, but said he was due to leave by March 15th. When he didn’t, she applied for the expected sheriff lockout next week.
Until then, the building owner said there was little she could do, and that added to the people living in the building to report what they didn’t want to do.
“The reason we don’t do that is because we’re not really going to do anything and we have to live next to him,” Proctor said.
The latest incident occurred Friday when NBC Los Angeles crews were outside the complex. The sheriff’s patrol was seen in the area shortly afterwards.
The NBCLA contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office to comment on the incident, but there was no response.
In response, the city of West Hollywood said it was investigating the issue, repeating the people who live in the building needed to file accusations.
