What is Annabelle Doll? Dolls said to be said – NBC Los Angeles

Annabelle became a common name in 2014 when horror films followed the story of dolls that were plagued by their deaths.

Now, the real puppet that inspired the film and its sequels – also known as Annabelle – is in the spotlight.

Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera passed away at a hotel in Pennsylvania and brought the doll on a national tour in place of the New England Psychic Research Association.

The cause of death has not been announced. Adams County Chief Assistant Coroner Scott Pennewill told Today.com that Rivera’s death was “not suspicious.”

Read more about Annabelle and why the doll has returned to the spotlight.

What is the origin story of Annabelle doll?

Until recently, Annabellore was kept at the Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. The museum is currently closed to the public.

The New England Association for Psychic Studies talks about the origins of the allegations and how it became Warrens’s property.

In 1968, the nursing student was presented with a rugsy an d’Or that she brought back to an apartment she shared with her roommate, according to the Timeline of the Psychic Research Association of New England.

Later, before the roommate “recognized a strange event with a doll,” the medium said, according to the timeline, “there is a young girl named Annabelle living there.”

“The two roommates tried to embrace the puppet’s spirit and pleased it just to reciprocate malicious and violent intent,” says the NESPR website.

According to Nespr, Warren deemed the doll “devilly owned” and removed it from the house. The couple then “put them in glass boxes to contain malicious beings.”

What will happen to the Annabelle movie?

The doll made its debut in the 2013 film “The Conjuring.”

The 2014 film “Annabelle” tells the backstory of the doll, but changes from the story laid out by the New England Association of Psychic Research website.

The film Annabelle is a creepy porcelain doll that resembles a child, compared to the creepy Anne-style dolls found at the Connecticut Museum.

In the first “Annabelle” film, a man named John gives his wife Mia a doll as a gift. The doll is only owned when Satanic cultists break into the pair’s homes in an attempt to kill John and Mia.

The cultists die, but one blood, named Annabelle Higgins, lands on the doll, urging them to begin to engage in paranormal and, ultimately, evil.

The Annabelle franchise has two additional prequels, “Annabelle: Creation” and “Annabelle Comes Home.” The three films are part of the larger “Conjour Universe.”

Why was Annabellore on tour?

According to a post from the New England Psychic Research Association, the doll was part of the Devil’s on the Run Tour.

The “Devil’s on the Run” tour celebrates the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren, and displays Annabelle “for someone brave enough to face her,” according to NESPR.

“One of the tour’s important highlights is the infamous Annabelle doll, which, despite its seemingly innocent appearance, was the cause of many horrifying incidents. The dolls reportedly brought to people who were inappropriate to those who caused misfortune, injuries and even death,” the tour’s description states.

In May, Annabelle was rumored to have been missing from the Connecticut Museum. Rivera took her to Tiktok and assured viewers that the doll was where they were.

“I want to assure you all that Annabelle is at the Occult Museum in Warrens. Let’s go inside and check it out,” he said. He then took the camera to the museum and photographed the doll behind the glass.

Warrens’ son-in-law Tony Spera also spoke to NBC News in May, saying Annabelle wasn’t missing and was on a national tour.

“The fact that the doll has never been out of our view and is not out of our control. It’s in a protective case. A lot of precautions have been taken to make it safe,” Spera said.

What happened to Dan Rivera?

Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera, the handler of Annabelle Doll, passed away on July 13th at the age of 54.

Rivera was found in a hotel room in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. “There’s nothing suspicious,” says Adams County Chief Assistant Coroner Scott Pennewill.

Rivera completed the suspension of her “Devil’s on the Run” tour, known as “Annabelle of Gettysburg” earlier that day.

“The coroner’s office and state police were called to the scene Sunday night… he went for an autopsy today and it’s pending,” Pennewill said July 15th.

Pennewill said autopsy results are likely to be available within 60 to 90 days.

Where is Annabelle dolls now?

The Annabelle doll was not present on the scene, Pennewill noted, adding that Rivera was found alone.

He said Annabelle might have been in the van in the hotel’s parking lot, but he couldn’t check the doll location on Today.com.
