The Los Angeles Times have announced the lineup for the 30th Annual Festival, which will be held at the University of Southern California from April 26th to 27th. The event is recognized as the nation’s largest literary festival and features over 550 authors, experts and entertainers in multiple stages and panel discussions.
Among the prominent figures featured are politician and author Stacey Abrams, poet Amanda Gorman, comedian Chelsea Handler, actors Matt Bommer and Max Greenfield. The lineup also includes figures from a range of fields, including filmmaker Jon M. Chu, chef Roy Choi and activist Amanda Knox.
“This is my favourite book event all year round. In my opinion, it’s the Literature Coachella. This is the only reason I’m continuing to write a book out of fear that I won’t be invited next year,” Greenfield shared. “I’m very grateful for the book festival.”
The festival offers a variety of programming including live panel discussions, book signing, interactive exhibits and more. The event’s seven outdoor stages host discussions on literature, politics, food and entertainment.
Notable presentations include a conversation with Amanda Gorman about her latest book, Girls On Rise, and a discussion with Rebecca Yaros about her latest fantasy novel, Onyx Storm. Individual ticket purchases are required for both.
Other scheduled highlights include screening for the new PBS miniseries “Miss Austin,” based on Gilhornby’s novel, followed by discussions with author and producer Christine Langan.
Participants will also have the opportunity to gain insight from the show’s creators and preview “Long Bright River,” an adaptation of Rhythauer’s novel.
In addition to literary events, the festival will feature family-friendly entertainment, live music and food vendors.
The Los Angeles Times hosts interactive sessions with newsroom staff to provide insight into current events and media. Over 350 exhibitors will be present to showcase books, products and interactive experiences.
Before the weekend, there will be the 45th Los Angeles Times Book Awards Ceremony held at USC’s Bobird Auditorium on April 25th. This year, Pico Iyer will receive the Robert Kirsch Award for his lifetime achievements, and Amanda Gorman will receive the Innovator Award.
