Two disaster recovery centers are opening to provide resources to Los Angeles County residents affected by January’s wildfires.
The center will also include representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which previously provided assistance to eight libraries in Los Angeles County. These services will be located at two new disaster recovery centers.
Services are also available for people who have lost records such as birth certificates, death certificates, driver’s licenses, and Social Security cards. People who have lost their homes or businesses can apply for disaster relief loans. Services such as mental health counseling are also available.
FEMA public affairs specialist Nicole Wilson said visitors will be able to speak directly with Disaster Recovery Agency personnel. Representatives help people organize and upload documents and provide guidance on the recovery process.

On the Westside, the center will be located at the UCLA Research Park (formerly the Westside Pavilion) at 10850 W. Pico Blvd in West Los Angeles. Another center will open at the Pasadena City College Community Education Center, 3035 E. Foothill Blvd. The center will be open from 1pm to 8pm on Tuesdays, and from 9am to 8pm starting Wednesday.
Once all damage is assessed, this fire is expected to be one of the costliest disasters in U.S. history. The county released its first damage assessment map Monday depicting damaged and destroyed buildings.
