Historical Formula Exhibition
Homage to the legacy of open wheel racing at Long Beach, the legendary cars of the three iconic series that raced here (Formula 5000, Formula 1, IndyCar) will compete together for the first time on Saturday and Sunday of Race Weekend. Among the cars you plan to attend the event:
Formula 5000 ERA: The 1974 Formula 5000 Dungurnie National Racer Eagle 755 and driver Vernschuppan, the winner of the 1975 Long Beach Pole Pole Position, is on the wheels. Owned by local businessman Tom Malloy, the car was also the first to compete on the streets of Long Beach. Formula 5000 racers, a powerful open-wheel car with a distinctive aerodynamic design, competed in the first Long Beach Race in 1975.
Formula 1 Era: Formula 1 competed in Long Beach from 1976 to 1983. One of the most famous cars in Formula 1 history, the John Player Lotus 77, who won the 1977 Black race, is driven by Mario Andretti and is on track at Long Beach.
Indycar Era: Long Beach’s current feature series is represented by the number one Ford Laura 05/00 driven by the 2005 winner, the race legend Sebastian Bullday. His 2005 victory was the first of his three straight wins at Long Beach.

About the Long Beach Street Course
The lap doesn’t take long on long beaches. The course is only 1.968 miles and takes 11 turns. The fastest sections follow the coastline drive and the start finish line. Grandstand fans can see what happens when the car reaches top speed and the pit lane gets busy.
From there, the driver will be the opportunity to hard brake on Turn 1 and pass in front of the dolphin fountain section, turning 2 and 3. After navigating and navigating turns 4 and 5, the track is similar to part of Shoreline Drive.
The driver was installed here for the explosive way of the seaside and for the entry into another technical section to another technical section leaving the left to hairpin turn 11. This last section of the track is a great place to see.
