When LADWP tries to fix a broken valve in the San Fernando Valley, the faucet runs dry medium waves

Residents in Porter Ranch and the nearby Granada Hills area of Los Angeles County are being asked to save water as crews work to repair water system breaks on Wednesday.

Crews at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) say the valve supplying a large aquarium above Porter Ranch broke as crews were doing repairs on Tuesday. Approximately 9,200 customers may or may not have water as a result of a break.

The temporary water pump was set up overnight by the LADWP crew to compensate for the water loss, but not sufficient for all residents.

KTLA’s Eric Spielman was at the home of one Porter Ranchman who woke up at 6am to discover that the house had no water.

“I woke up this morning and I want to wash my face and take a shower. Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no water,” Manny Kazanzian said. Manny escorted Eric inside his house, where none of the faucets were working.

Meanwhile, LADWP workers began handing out drinking water to troubled residents on Wednesday, but many arrived to find long cars at distribution centres.

One driver who decided to go to bed early last night was found to be out when he woke up as a way to save water.

“From the moment we received that message, I hadn’t used anything last night,” he said while waiting for the water at Holly Bernson Memorial Park. “But I’m grateful for what these guys are doing, that’s really good.”

In addition to the location of Holly Belson Memorial Park, water is distributed at the intersection of Omelfney Park in Granada Hills and Tampa Avenue and Senson Boulevard.

The water conservation boundary extends south and east of Rinaldiavenue, to Balboa Boulevard, to the west, to Soto Avenue and to the north and to the hills and hills.

All of this is watching Southern California watch temperatures rise amid the heat wave. The afternoon at Porter Ranch on Wednesday was expected to be in the mid-90s. Thursday’s forecast highs are even warmer, perhaps nearly tripling.

Worse, a LADWP spokesman says it could potentially take the valves to repair until Friday.
