Los Angeles and Southern California will see a period of rain over the next three days, even with the possibility of weak tornadoes like thunderstorms and storms.
Rainfall rates can be light to moderate, but thunderstorms can cause any heavy rain. Gusts of wind, lightning, and small hail are also possible.
Rainfall arrives about two months after the January wildfires in Southern California, including the Palisade and Eaton fires in Los Angeles County. Fire strips the brush from the hillside and becomes more vulnerable to mud and debris flows as the rainfall rate increases.
In Sierra Madre, evacuation warnings were effective due to possible debris flow.
In the mountains, snow levels can be around 4,000 feet, and can travel along major mountain paths.

When will it rain in LA?
Predict most of the rain on Wednesday night and Wednesday in the evening before dropping off on Wednesday night.
“It’s pretty much beneficial…but it will cause some travel delays and slippery conditions,” said NBCLA meteorologist Belem de Leon. “The roads are slippery so it’s (Wednesday) afternoon when you need to allow extra time and a lot of patience.”
Expect a shower scattered on Thursday with a rainy break. Thunderstorms can produce downpours, floods, strong winds, lightning, small h and weak tornadoes.
“In the deserts and mountains, there’s more winds along the coast overnight,” de Leon said. “We’re going to feel those winds in the afternoon.”
By the time the storm moves on Friday, most areas will opt for 1-2 inches of 0.50-1 inch of rain on the mountains. Winter weather warnings and recommendations will be implemented on the mountains in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside County on Wednesday.
The storm ends on Friday.
Before the weekend warm-up, temperatures are in the 50s and 60s in most of Southern California.
