The Lydia Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in the Antelope Valley community of Acton, north of Los Angeles. The red flag warning remains in effect Friday, with winds expected to weaken.
As a heartbreaking week draws to a close, two wildfires in Los Angeles County are now among the fifth most destructive on record in California.
The Palisades and Eaton fires broke out on Tuesday, a day when red flag warnings for fires were widely in effect across Southern California. Wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph were in the forecast, contributing to the dramatic spread of the fires, with two of the five still active in Los Angeles County as of Friday morning.
Ten people have been reported dead in this fire.
About 153,000 people were under evacuation orders in Los Angeles County on Friday. Many more people have received evacuation advisories and are advised to prepare to evacuate in accordance with the order.

Here’s what you need to know about the fire that broke out in Los Angeles County on Thursday.
Los Angeles County’s largest wildfire burned Friday morning at 20,438 acres and was 8 percent contained. A fire that broke out Tuesday morning in the Pacific Palisades destroyed more than 5,300 buildings. The community of approximately 23,000 people is located between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Located approximately 8 miles northwest of Santa Monica and 16 miles east of Malibu, just off the Pacific Coast Highway. The Eaton Fire, which started near the foothills community of Altadena, also prompted evacuation orders in the San Gabriel Valley east of Los Angeles after the fire broke out Tuesday evening. The deadly fire in the hills north of Altadena has burned 13,956 acres with a 3 percent containment rate. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect. The Kenneth Fire in West Hills, which broke out Thursday afternoon, is 1,000 acres and 35 percent contained. All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted. Emergency dispatchers alerted authorities to a person seen in the area at the time of the fire, and responding officers took the person into custody. After questioning the man, authorities determined there was insufficient probable cause to arrest him on suspicion of arson, but arrested him on a felony charge of violation of probation. The Hearst Fire, which started in the Sylmar community in the northern San Fernando Valley, was 771 acres and contained 37 percent. The approximately 400-acre fire in the Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles is 75 percent contained. The Lydia Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon on Soledad Canyon Road in Acton. The entire Angeles National Forest is temporarily closed for public safety and protection of natural resources.
