The White House and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are encouraging Republican states across the country to chase Florida’s leads and set up their own version of “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Some red states have already been warmed by this idea or have already had new detention facilities in the work.

“We don’t have crocodiles, but we have a lot of bears. We don’t realize the Alaskan version of Crocodile Alcatraz plans,” an Alaska representative told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Tuesday.

“Dear DHS: We have swamps and dreams. Let’s talk. The Gators in South Carolina are ready, and they’re not big on paper. If I were the governor, I posted South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace on X on Tuesday.

Fox News Digital reached out to the offices of 26 Republican governors and asked if they were considering rolling out their own version of the almost handful of “Alligator Alcatraz,” which stretches from Idaho to South Carolina.

Garrison Douglas, a spokesman for Georgia’s government’s Brian Kemp, told Peach News Digital that Peach “leaded the way in tackling illegal immigration,” and recently announced plans to build the “large detention facility in the country.”

“By maintaining the longest, continuous presence of the National Guard at the state’s southern border, Georgia has helped address illegal immigration by banning sanctuary cities and overseeing Georgia’s Public Safety Agency under the leadership of the Georgia governor, and strengthening partnerships with ICE,” Douglas said on Wednesday.

“In addition, one of our private sector partners recently announced an agreement with ICE to convert Georgia facilities into the largest detention facility in the country, which will only be supported by the governor and strengthen national efforts to detain criminally illegal immigrants and to process them for deportation,” he added.

Sam Docke, communications director for Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, told Fox Digital that Arkansas is building “the state’s new 3,000-bed prison.”

“Governor Sanders is working with the Trump administration to deport violent criminal illegal immigrants. So, when Arkansas law enforcement and federal immigrants were declared, he signed a defense against criminal misconduct earlier this year to impose harsh new penalties on illegal immigrants that promote illegal cooperation they asked Arkansas law enforcement during the construction of the nation. Brandon Carrotchuck, a spokesman for South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, told Fox Digital on Wednesday that the governor served as “chairman of President Trump’s Homeland Security Advisory Committee” and “facilitated the first council meeting in Washington this morning.”

“South Carolina law enforcement and the National Guard continue to work with and participate in federal officials on illegal immigration enforcement and deportation,” Charlocak continued. “Governor McMaster has directed state officials to continue investigating how they can leverage Palmetto’s unique assets and resources to provide additional, enhanced support in the coming weeks and months.”

In Idaho, Gov. Brad Little, according to his office, “we are planning to roll out new details about Idaho’s efforts to support President Trump’s agenda.”

“The government is fully supportive of President Trump’s efforts to deport dangerous, illegal alien criminals,” Little spokesman Joanne Valsek said on Fox News Digital Wednesday. “The government is proud that through recent actions, Idaho has concluded a 287(g) agreement with ICE and the Idaho Police Department, leading efforts to help these individuals transport them to our state’s ice detention facilities while they await deportation.

Andrew Mahalleris, spokesman for Texas Governor Greg Abbott, touted in a comment provided to Fox Digital that it was offering “4,000 beds for detention.”

“Governor Abbott is grateful that White House partners will work with Texas to secure borders and stop illegal immigration. In January, Governor Abbott directed the Texas Department of Justice and the Texas Facilities Commission to identify land and facilities that the federal government will use as detention space. “Texas will continue to support the Trump administration in arrest, detention and deportation of illegal immigrants.”

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller joined Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Tuesday evening, after traveling to Florida with Trump earlier that day, asking all Republican governors to follow DeSantis’s lead and build their own “Crocodile Alcatraz.”

“We want to go to all Republican states. Of course, in sane countries, Democrats will do that, but they love illegals and hate Americans,” Miller said. “We’re looking for all the governors of the Red State. If you’re watching tonight, you can get the phone, call DHS, work with us to build facilities in your state, and we can drive out illegals and we can drive out criminals.”

“Our country will be fully useful with more facilities like ‘Alligator Alcatraz’,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson commented on Fox Digital on Wednesday.

“Alligator Alcatraz is a cutting-edge facility that plays a key role in fulfilling the President’s promise to bring the worst crime illegal aliens out of America as quickly as possible,” Jackson said. “President Trump is grateful to have partnered with Secretary Noem and Ron DeSantis on this important project, and our country will be fully useful with more facilities like this.”

Trump traveled to the Everglades Tuesday morning, where he met with DeSantis, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem and other federal and state leaders to tour new immigration detention facilities. The facility is located at a former airport, equipped with a sturdy tent structure to accommodate 5,000 illegal immigrants amid the Trump administration’s deportation blitz.

The detention center has won its name because it is located in the heart of the Everglades, home to giant reptiles such as crocodiles and pythons.

“It is known as ‘Crocodile Alcatraz’. This is very appropriate as I looked outside. That’s not a place you want to go hiking anytime soon,” Trump said Tuesday while on tour. “But soon, this facility has some of the most frightening immigrants and some of the most vicious people on the planet.”

“We are surrounded by miles of dangerous swamps and the only way we can really deport this country,” the president added. “And many of these people are telling themselves to the country they came from.”

Desantis has permitted the construction of an illegal immigration detention center at a 30-square-mile facility in the swamp of the Everglades in Miami-Dade County under an emergency order in June.

Florida building “Alcatraz the Crocodile”

DeSantis also called on the Republican governor in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Tuesday evening, to chase his lead and build his own version of Wani Alcatraz.

President Donald Trump will be greeted by Gov. Ron DeSantis upon his arrival at the Crocodile Alcatraz on July 1, 2025.

“All red states need to at least step up this and do it,” DeSantis said. “If all red states are doing what Florida is doing, even if it’s small, they may be small, so you’re going to see a huge number for deportation, and Biden has given millions of people, if we want to get the job done, we need these types of solutions.”
