Last month’s massive wildfire in Southern California debates whether John’s legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, wants to stay in Golden State.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the legend revealed that the couple considered returning to New York following the “collective trauma” of the fatal fire.
The “Get Lifted” singer said he and his family were returning from vacation on January 7th.
Just a day later, when the sun fire began in Hollywood Hills and quickly began to expand, their “fear increased.” He said, “I felt that danger was too close to comfort.”
“That night my wife and I gathered four children, four dogs and a bearded dragon and headed south towards the Carlsbad hotel,” he said. “We didn’t come back until the following week. Our home was safe, but many people aren’t that lucky and the threat is still looming.”
He said the fire “shaking everyone,” including the children.
“Chrissy and I have always thought about going back to New York, where we once lived, and we probably will be like that once the youngest grows a little,” he explained.
The couple’s youngest children, Esti Maxine and Len Alexander, are both alone. Their eldest son, Luna, is eight years old, and her eldest son, Mile Theodore, is six years old.
“Every time nature shows rage, I wonder if it’s time for us to go back east. Who knows?”
The couple has been living in Beverly Hills since 2020. They have a penthouse in the Nolita area of Manhattan, New York, and sold in 2022 for a whopping $18 million. They once planned to combine the two penthouses, but the EGOT winner never told the outlet three years ago.
“For work and everything, we’re really in Los Angeles, so we realized we’re going to focus our home building energy and renovation energy on what we’re doing in LA,” he said at the time. Ta.
He knew this move was perfect for the couple’s commitment on the West Coast, but he could only go back east and remember his life.
“I always miss it,” he said. “New York will always be my favorite city.”
