Almost three months after the catastrophic Eaton fire fully levelled out the Altadena section, an update is expected on Friday morning regarding reconstruction efforts.
This is three days before two very important deadlines for the home and business owner.
Priority is that all debris be removed from burnt homes and foundations for Altadena residents to begin rebuilding.
Monday is the deadline for residents to tell the county whether they want to do the removal for them.
March 31st is the deadline for submitting your opt-in or opt-out form.
Another major deadline on the same day is to apply for FEMA disaster support.
The Army Corps of Engineers are responsible for the debris removal process.
Opting in involves removing asbestos, wood, ash, soil, burnt debris, cars, vehicles and home foundations.
If you opt out, you will need to fire the private contractor to do all this for you and get permission in the county.
There are also two dedicated support lines to help you make decisions. Residents may call 844-347-3332 from 7am to 7pm for opt-in or for general questions.
To resolve, residents can call 888-479-7328 Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
The opt-in, opt-out program is for homeowners only, but the county recommends residents still submit forms by the March 31 deadline.
Anyone with an industrial property, condominium, townhome or mobile home park may be included in the program.
