Los Angeles sports teams announced Monday that they are committing $8 million to wildfire relief and announcing three events to provide supplies to those affected by the fires.
The events will be held at Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium and BMO Stadium, all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and the teams will be handing out items such as apparel, hygiene kits, school supplies and sneakers. The team said “proof of residence in the evacuated postcode” will be required when providing supplies to people who have lost their homes or been evacuated from their homes.
Separately, the team announced that it will be distributing “more than $8 million” in donations among organizations including the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and World Central Kitchen.
Participating teams: Dodgers, Angels, Lakers, Clippers, Rams, Chargers, Kings, Ducks, Galaxy, LAFC, Angel City FC, Sparks. These teams, as well as UCLA, USC, LA28, and a new professional golf team, have joined Fanatics to create the “LA Strong” collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts, with all proceeds going to wildfire relief.
