Simone Biles is not sure where they will land in regards to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
In an interview with French Sports Daily L’Equipe published Tuesday, the most decorated gymnast of all time outlined her priorities and spoke about what her body tells her about competing at the highest level of the sport.
“I really enjoy life, spend time with my husband (Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens), support him in his game and live my life as a woman,” Biles said. “I’ve accomplished a lot with my sport and I really have to get excited for me to come back.”
The 28-year-old Biles said he will be in Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics, but it is still unclear whether it is a gymnast, an audience or other abilities.
“I don’t know that yet, whether it’s the equipment or the stand,” she told L’Equipe. “But 2028 seems far away and my body is aging. I felt it in Paris.”
Biles won three gold medals and silver at the Parish Games. She currently combines seven Olympic gold and 11 medals.
She recalls returning to the Paris athlete village and feeling the sacrifice of her body.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas talks about his role as a grand marshal in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon at the Indiana Fever Home Games with Simone Biles and the incredible Kate Linklark, and his role as a grand marshal in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, produced by New York Road Runners.
“I went back to the village, took the elevator, my body literally collapsed. I was sick for 10 days,” Biles said. “The other day we were sprinting in the yard with a friend. I was in pain and pain for three days, so I honestly don’t know.
Biles also praised fellow Brazilian world-class gymnast Rebeca Andrade for pushing Biles to new heights by fighting the injury and recovery process. But she said sports only need one of them and there may be a time when a new generation of athletes will be in the spotlight.
“It only needs one of us. “The younger generations knock on the door and everything starts again.”
Biles said she will continue to talk about mental health.
“I am extremely proud of the work that has been accomplished to reach this point,” she said.
