Authorities announced Sunday the arrest of a woman accused of setting a mattress on fire outside an Eagle Rock gym.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a report of a fire outside the Laco Boxing Club in the 4400 block of Eagle Rock Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 15.
Surveillance camera footage from the boxing gym showed the woman setting herself on fire and leaving.
The suspected arsonist was identified as 48-year-old Marvela Salomon.
Video showed a woman setting a mattress on fire outside an Eagle Rock gym. This video was broadcast on NBC4 News on December 17, 2024 at 6am.
The gym owner told NBC4 that the woman in the video is homeless and that he has met her in the past. Police have not confirmed whether Salomon left the residence.
Salomon was arrested on charges of arson of a structure and arson of personal property. Her bail was set at $125,000.
